ISIS and Christian (Double) Standards
It is remarkable how Christians--both the devout and merely nominal--appear determined to see ISIS as an expression of "pure Islam" while Hitler's Christianity (to name but one example among many that could be drawn from the history of Christian peoples) is regarded as a self-evident aberration.

Jim Jones's chair, stationed beneath a plaque on which appears a famous line about history authored by the Spanish American philosopher and poet George Santayana. The dead bodies of members of Jones's congregation are visible in the foreground.
Sometimes it seems that, if it weren't for double standards, many among us would have no standards at all.
