Lately, I have been thinking about, and listening to, these two albums a lot. I often say that they got me through college. Specifically, they helped me to cope with the stress and vertigo I experienced as the Reagan revolution began to reshape U.S. politics when I was 20-21. Politically, 2025-2026 feels like 1980-1981 to me—only more unhinged. The American experiment has been unraveling for about half a century at varying rates of speed. But now the pedal's to the metal and, a bit old for the mosh pit, I'm returning to early Talking Heads on the stereo.
